NORTH OGDEN, Utah — Two people are dead and another injured after police responded to a North Ogden incident that involved a home fire Thursday.
According to the North Ogden Police Department, officers received reports of shots fired at around 7:14 p.m. and responded to the home near the 3200 block of Mountain Road. Upon arrival, a man who did not live at the home came out and began firing at the officers who fired back, killing him.
With the home on fire, officers entered the structure and found another man, identified as Scott Roberts, dead inside and his wife, Jodi, with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot.
The Weber County Attorney's Office has not identified the man who fired upon police, but officials said Thursday night that the third person involved was the brother of either Scott or Jodi Roberts.
Officials say the house was a complete loss, but the fire was contained to the one home.
The investigation into the incident is expected to last days as investigators need to make sure it's safe to enter the home after the fire.
No police officers were seriously injured.
