BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah — Despite the heavy snow over the past few days, the overall lack of snowfall has forced a local resort to delay the start of the season.
Solitude announced Monday that the originally scheduled opening date of Friday, Nov. 20 will be delayed. A new opening date was not announced.

The resort says the lack of early season snow does not give workers enough time to prepare the terrain for skiers and snowboarders.
“Considering current conditions, as well as our goal of providing ample space for guests to distance from one another, we believe that a later opening date will create a higher-quality outdoor experience for our guests," said Kim Mayhew, Solitude President & COO. "We look forward to welcoming them to our slopes as soon as conditions permit.”
