Both Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon are seeing increased traffic after an overnight snowstorm Friday night.
The SR-201 bypass road was temporarily closed Saturday morning for avalanche mitigation, but has since reopened.
However, the parking lots at Alta Ski Area are expected to be full by 8:30 a.m.
Wildcat lot is 85% full and Albion 65% full. There are enough cars in the canyon to fill up our lots. Consider skiing this afternoon. @UDOTcottonwoods

The traction device requirement was also in effect, but was lifted just after 8:30 a.m.
#RoadWeatherUpdate 🚨 The #TractionLaw has been lifted in both Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. Roads conditions are wet, slushy up top with some areas of patchy ice. Drive with caution! Plows will continue to make laps for the morning. 🚨 #SR210 #SR190 @UDOTTRAFFIC pic.twitter.com/iZdlb18uqp

Travelers should expect delays up to an hour.
The same endless line of cars we're seeing this morning will all be trying to leave Alta at around the same time this afternoon. Consider leaving early today to avoid the mess. FYI traffic is currently taking up to an hour just to reach the mouth of Little Cottonwood.
