MOAB, Utah — A man died Sunday after falling from a cliff at Dead Horse Point State Park in southern Utah.

The man, who Utah State Parks identified as 54-year-old Charles Campassi from Houston, Texas, was hiking near the West Rim Trail with family when he lost his footing and fell an estimated 200 feet.

Authorities say they believe the group was hiking approximately 100 yards off-trail, and they urge hikers to always stay "within their experience level," to stay on established trails, and to be extra careful around cliffs and steep drops.
