ALTA, Utah — After a record-breaking interlodge at Alta and a days-long road closure in Little Cottonwood Canyon, the Utah Department of Transportation reports heavy traffic along SR-210 Friday.
"Please be prepared for delays uphill and consider adjusting your travel times or taking the [UTA] ski bus," a tweet from UDOT's Cottonwood Canyons account says.
UDOT closed the roadway Monday nightto allow crews to perform avalanche control work and make the canyon road safe for travel again.
The Town of Alta, which includes Alta Ski Area, and Snowbird Ski & Summer Resprt both activated interlodge protocols, in which people at both locations were required to stay indoors due to avalanche danger. The interlodge at Alta lasted about 60 hours.
Parking at Alta filled up by 8:30, and the resort says drop-offs are not allowed.
