DAVIS COUNTY, Utah — A grass fire broke out Sunday afternoon in Shepard Canyon, according to the Davis County Sheriff's Office.

The fire was reported just before 3:30 p.m., and authorities believe it was caused by a downed power line.

Farmington City Fire, Kaysville City Fire and Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest crews are responding.

The fire was estimated at approximately three acres of grass and brush as of 6 p.m. Sunday.

Rocky Mountain Power told FOX 13 Sunday evening that it had de-energized power lines in the area at the request of fire officials. The outage affects six homes.

A few firefighters hiked up to assess and begin control efforts, and 35 more will arrive Monday morning to work on suppressing the fire.
