MILLCREEK, Utah — Businesses at the Olympus Hills Shopping Center in Millcreek have been evacuated due to a gas leak.

According to the Unified Fire Authority, Dominion Energy detected a natural gas leak in the area and is working to locate the exact source.

Fire crews and Unified Police responded to help "secure" the area. All businesses, which they said was about 12 in total, were evacuated. About half had already closed for the evening.

There were no injuries, nor people who became sick or endangered. UFA spokesman Matthew McFarland called it a "quick and efficient evacuation."

McFarland added that if anyone smells a gas leak in their home or anywhere else, they should immediately call 911, or their energy company's emergency line if they have one.

"Aytime you think there could be a gas leak, we would encourage you to use the 911 system for that," he said. "We're happy to come out and help — we'd rather show up find that we're not needed then be needed and not be here in a timely fashion."
