SALT LAKE CITY — A bill that passed its first hurdle in a Senate Committee will tell local governments they can't restrict billboard companies that want to transform traditional signs to digital screens.
Utah has more billboards than most other states and the billboard industry is influential in both major political parties.
State Senator Scott Sandall, a Republican from Tremonton, is sponsoring the bill that was sent to the full Senate by the Business and Labor Committee.
FOX 13s Max Roth spoke with Taylor Stevens of the Salt Lake Tribune about the billboard issue.
