LEHI, Utah — Search and Rescue teams from across Utah County are learning water rescue skills at Palisades Reservoir along the Idaho-Wyoming border.

They’ll need the skills when a new reservoir opens in Lehi in 2021.

The Dry Creek Recreation area is located along the border with Highland City.

When the new reservoir is complete, the 55 acre site will offer recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding or just relaxing on a sandy beach which will be installed.

Crews from Lehi Fire, Lone Peak Fire District, Saratoga Springs SAR and Utah County SAR are being trained by firefighters from Oklahoma Task Force -1.

According to a poston the Lehi Fire Department’s Facebook page, they are learning water rescue skills and operating on inflatable rescue boats.

Here's a look at the planned development.
