Wildlife officials say a woman has reported seeing a cougar in her Layton neighborhood near Hobbs Reservoir.
The woman told officials she was taking her dog out when she saw the animal with two kittens. Both she and her dog went back inside, unharmed.
Wildlife experts say cougars prey on deer, which are often coming down from canyons into neighborhoods.
If you see cougars or other wild animals near your home, experts recommend telling both your neighbors, and wildlife officials so they can be aware and keep track.
