LAYTON, Utah — A small groundbreaking ceremony was held Saturday for a new temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In a statement released by Irene Caso, spokesperson for the church, leaders determined a traditional groundbreaking for the Layton Utah temple with invited guests was not prudent, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The First Presidency assigned the Utah Area Presidency to conduct a small-scale groundbreaking so that construction could proceed.
A recording of the proceedings will be available next week.
