TOOELE, Utah — A man has been arrested after police say he participated in robbery attempt that resulted in the death of his friend and accomplice in Tooele.
On Thursday, Tooele Police announced that they were looking for 24-year-old Devin Perryman, reported missing from West Valley City. They had not found him or recovered his body, but believed he was the victim of a homicide.
They believed he was killed Monday at a home near 350 N. Garden Street in Tooele.
On Friday, police announced they had found his body near a gas station southwest of Delle, Tooele County.
Police also announced that they had arrested 23-year-old Austin Donavon Strehle on charges of homicide, robbery and burglary. A probable cause statement for his' arrest gave additional details of what occurred Monday night.
Strehle and Perryman reportedly attempted to rob the home on Garden Street when one person inside the home and Perryman fired gunshots at each other. Perryman was shot and killed.
The next day, police say Strehle called them to tell them what happened, saying he wanted to kill himself due to his involvement in his friend's death.
Police said Thursday they were looking for two witnesses to the incident, but it was not clear whether they would face charges or if either of them exchanged gunfire with Perryman.
Investigators believe Perryman's body was driven to and dumped in the area where he was later found.
