SANDY, Utah — Alta High School in Sandy was evacuated Wednesday due to a suspicious bag left by a former student. However, the scene was cleared after an investigation showed there was no threat.
A spokesperson with the Canyons School District said the decision was made to evacuate the school as a precaution. Officers and investigators were able to determine the bag did not contain an explosive device.
Officials said the reason why the former student was on campus is still being investigated and it has yet to be decided whether any criminal acts were committed.
