5 deaths, 1,722 new COVID-19 cases in Utah on Sunday

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health's COVID-19 report for Saturday shows an increase of 1,722 confirmed cases—bringing the state's total to 193,809—and an additional 5 deaths.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,418,227 people in Utah have been tested for the disease. The state's rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 2,354 per day, and the rolling seven-day average for the percent of positive tests is 21.4%.

564 people in Utah are hospitalized for COVID-19 and a total 868 people in Utah have died of the disease.

The 5 deaths announced Saturday are:

  1. Female, between 65-84, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  2. Male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  3. Male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  4. Male, older than 85, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  5. Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
