A woman died and a man was hospitalized in serious condition after a shooting in Midvale Friday evening.
It happened shortly before 6 p.m. near a Hilton hotel and a Winco grocery store near 7200 S 700 W.
"[It's] very early on in the investigation. We don't know if there was a relationship of any sort between both the parties who were shot or really who may have done this and what transpired here," said Sgt. Melody Gray, Unified Police Department.
According to Gray, the male victim ran to the Winco grocery store and sought help. Grocery store employees applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and called emergency services.
"Great on their part to think of that and to take that immediate quick action and apply that medical care was awesome work on their part," Gray said.
Witnesses told police a man in dark-colored clothing and a woman in a floral shirt and jeans were seen leaving the area.
Officers recovered one weapon at the scene. The victims' names have not been released.
Police are now looking for a white 2005 Cadillac CTS in connection with the shooting.
Anyone with information on the Cadillac is urged to call Unified Police at 801-743-7000.
