SALT LAKE CITY — One person was killed and another was critically wounded in a shooting Saturday night in the Glendale area of Salt Lake City.
SLC Police were investigating at three different crime scenes: One where police believe the shooting happened shortly before 7 p.m., and one where each victim was found. The three scenes are located within a few blocks of each other near 900 West and 1300 South.
One person, who was not identified as of Saturday night, succumbed to gunshot wounds at the scene after bystanders and police officers rendered first aid.
A second shooting victim, a boy under 18 years old, was also found with gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He was found in a vehicle a few blocks from the scene of the shooting.
SLCPD Lt. Steve Wooldridge said residents reported the victims were "carried away" from the scene.
Police said they believe it started when a group of people pulled up in a vehicle to some pedestrians, a "confrontation" happened, and gunshots were exchanged at some point.
Police will be investigating the multiple crime scenes likely late into the night and possibly into the morning.
Anyone with further information that may help in the investigation is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
