WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is set to lose more than just the keys to the front door of the White House when he leaves office in January.
Once Joe Biden becomes the 46th President of the United States, Trump will become like all other citizens when it comes to Twitter.
Trump will no longer be entitled to the special protections world leaders receive, Reuters reports.
Since taking office in 2017, Trump has not had any Tweets removed by the company, no matter how inflammatory or untrue the comments included may have been. But that changes on Jan. 20 when Biden officially becomes president.
Twitter says the special protections do not apply to former office holders. The company has previously placed warnings and labels to Trump's tweets, but when he is no longer president his posts can be deleted.
Reuters adds that Facebook will also remove exemptions that Trump has received since being in office.
