Utah's COVID-19 surge continues with 3,005 new cases and eight new deaths

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health reported 3,005 new cases of COVID-19 and eight additional deaths Friday.

The rolling seven-day average of new cases per day is at 2,728 and the percent of positive labs results over the past week is 25.2%.

There are currently 587 people hospitalized in Utah with COVID-19.

The newly reported deaths bring the state death toll to 925.

They include:
Five Males:

  • older than 85, Davis County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized
  • between 45-64, Utah County resident, hospitalized
  • between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized

Three females:

  1. older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
  2. between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized
  3. between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized
