Utah reports 3,489 new COVID-19 cases over two days; 8 new deaths

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah had a reported 3,489 new cases of COVID-19 over Friday and Saturday, along with eight new deaths.

Because new data was not released on Christmas Day, the new numbers were combined into one report. The Department of Health says 2,498 of the cases would have been reported on Friday.

The current rolling seven-day average for positive tests now stands at 2,153 per day, with the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 24 percent.

There are 481 people currently hospitalized in the state with COVID-19.

With the eight additional deaths, the death toll in Utah now stands at 1,212.
