Utah reports 1,716 new COVID-19 cases and five additional deaths Monday

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health reported 1,716 new cases of COVID-19 Monday and an additional five deaths.

The rolling seven-day average of new cases per day in Utah is 1,969 and the percent of positive tests is at 24.4 percent.

There are currently 498 people hospitalized in Utah with COVID-19.

The newly-reported deaths bring the state's death toll to 1,219.

They include:

  • Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • Female, between 45-64, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Female, between 45-64, Davis County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • Male, between 65-84, Duchesne County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Female, older than 85, Washington County resident, long-term care facility resident
