Utah back over 2,000 new daily COVID-19 cases; 7 new deaths

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah's new daily COVID-19 case total returned over 2,000 Wednesday.

The Utah Department of Health reported an increase of 2,009 new coronavirus cases, and seven new deaths.

The state's rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 1,758 per day. The rolling seven-day average for the percent of positive tests is 18.4%.

UDOH reports 250,448 COVID-19 vaccines have now been administered.

Utah now has 452 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19.

As of today, 1,620 people in Utah have died of COVID-19. The seven deaths reported Wednesday are:

  • Male, between 65-84, Millard County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 65-84, Washington County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 45-64, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, older than 85, Tooele County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 65-84, Washington County resident, long-term care facility
