Surge still happening in Utah with 2,517 new COVID-19 cases and 11 new deaths

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health reported 2,517 new cases of COVID-19 and eleven new deaths on Tuesday.

That brought the seven-day running average of new cases per day in Utah to 2,554 while the percent of positive lab tests moved up to 21.9 %.

There are currently 435 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Utah.

The additional deaths reported Tuesday moved the state's death toll to 672.

They include:

  • Female, between 65-84, Wasatch County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 65-84, Davis County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 45-64, Utah County resident, long-term care facility resident
  • Male, older than 85, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 65-84, Washington County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 25-44, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Male, between 65-84, Utah County resident, not hospitalized
  • Female, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • Female, between 65-84, Wasatch County resident, unknown if hospitalized or long-term care facility resident
