SALT LAKE CITY — Starting next week, pharmacies at some Utah Smith’s locations will offer COVID-19 vaccinations after the company obtained a limited supply of the Moderna vaccine.

Vaccination appointments will be for people 70 and older at select smith’s pharmacies starting February 11.

According to Smith’s, those eligible for the vaccine will be able to schedule an appointment online, then come into the pharmacy, get their shot and wait 10-15 minutes to make sure there are no adverse reactions before leaving. The vaccines will be provided at no cost to patients.

“We are so excited. We are just ready for this to end just like everybody else and to be a part of that is really a great honor,”said Smith’s Pharmacy Director Jaime Montuoro.

Smith’s says they’re trying to get the vaccine into rural areas as well as underserved areas in metro locations first, but they hope to have the vaccine at all of their pharmacy locations.
