SALT LAKE CITY — Mayor Erin Mendenhall has opted to keep the city in a moderate risk level for COVID-19, her office told FOX 13.
“Based on a combination of local data and state trends, Salt Lake City will not be making a request to go to yellow this week,” a spokesperson for the mayor said in a statement.
Last week, the mayor indicated she might consider requesting Salt Lake City move to a “yellow” risk level on the state’s color coded chart for COVID-19. That was based on data showing cases in the city declining. But the state -- and Salt Lake City -- have seen a climbing number of cases this week.
The rest of the state is at a “yellow” or low risk for COVID-19. Only Kane County is at a “green.” Governor Gary Herbert’s latest health orders are in effect until June 26.
