PROVO, Utah — Provo High School will temporarily end its hybrid of in-person and online classes Thursday and move to an online-only schedule to accommodate a deep-cleaning of the school.
"Due to the number of COVID-19 cases at Provo High School, and in collaboration with the Utah County Health Department, Provo High School will move to remote learning this Thursday, January 21, to accommodate a deep cleaning of the school building. Tomorrow will continue in the current Phase 2 schedule to support students in settling and understanding their new term schedules. Teachers are expected in the building Thursday and Friday mornings until noon," an announcement on the Provo City School District's website says.
Provo High will join Timpview High, Independence High, Centennial Middle and Dixon Middle as they return to in-person classes Monday through Friday beginning on Monday, February 1.
The school district's 13 elementary schools are scheduled to return to in-person classes on Monday, January 25.
The schools will operate on shortened day schedules when they return to in-person classes Monday-Friday.
"This schedule will continue to allow sufficient time to sanitize the building each afternoon/evening, and will continue to provide teachers extra time to plan and coordinate with students. As part of this updated plan, participation in the home study program will be limited. Please look for more information concerning these updates to be provided in the coming days," another announcement on the school district's website says.
