Utah COVID-19 positive test rate drops below 20 percent for first time in months

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health's COVID-19 report for Tuesday shows an increase of 1,302 confirmed cases—bringing the state's total to 326,221—and seven additional deaths.

But there is good news as the state's seven-day average for the percent of positive tests is 19.9, the first time it fell below 20 percent in months.

So far, 1,911,870 people in Utah have been tested for the disease. The state's rolling seven-day average for the number of positive tests is 2,033 per day

A total of 172,603 vaccines have now been administered in Utah.

573 people in Utah are currently hospitalized with COVID-19.

1,507 people in Utah have died of COVID-19. The seven deaths announced Tuesday are:

  • 2 females:
    • older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
    • between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
  • 5 males:
    • between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
    • between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
    • between 65-84, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
    • between 65-84, Millard County resident, hospitalized at time of death
    • between 45-64, Utah County resident, hospitalized at time of death
