With flu season coming on during the coronavirus pandemic, a lot of people are expected to become ill over the next few weeks and months.
But is it COVID-19, flu or a common cold?
The symptoms can be very similar, especially with the flu and COVID-19.
The one symptom that usually only shows up with COVID-19 is shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.

Symptoms of COVID-19 can include:
- Fever and/or chills
- Cough (usually dry)
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Tiredness (sometimes)
- Aches and pains (sometimes)
- Headaches (sometimes)
- Sore throat (sometimes)
Symptoms of seasonal flu can include:
- Fever and/or chills
- Cough (usually dry)
- Fatigue
- Aches and pains
- Runny or stuffy nose (sometimes)
- Sore throat (sometimes)
- Diarrhea (sometimes in children)
Symptoms of a cold can include:
- Runny or stuffy nose
- Cough (mild)
- Fatigue (sometimes)
- Sneezing
- Watery eyes
- Sore throat
- Headaches (rarely)
- Aches and pains
