SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah — A man with several warrants was arrested Tuesday night after a chase in Salt Lake County.
Around 9:30 p.m., a detective spotted a stolen Ford Explorer near a liquor store at 3400 S Redwood Rd.
When officers attempted to stop the Explorer, the driver rammed into one of their vehicles and drove away.
Police chased the Explorer from Redwood Rd. to I-215, then back to Redwood Rd. and south to West Jordan.
The male and female in the Explorer exited the vehicle and ran away.
"He hugged this area for a while and made a couple trips through the neighborhoods and I'm told he went down the canal bank and over to where we're at right now," said Lt. Steve Burke, West Valley City Police Department.
Police captured the driver, but they're still looking for the female as of 6:30 Wednesday morning.
Police took the driver to the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.
In addition to the charges from his older warrants, he'll likely face new felony charges, which could include aggravated assault on a police officer. Police haven't yet released the suspect's name to the media.
