On Thursday, the Pocatello Police Department released the bodycam footage from the shooting of 17-year-old Victor Perez. Police were called to the residence on Saturday, April 5, for a report of domestic violence. The caller believed that someone nearby was intoxicated and threatening people in a backyard.

When police arrived, Perez could be seen behind a fence, as multiple police officers approached.
In the footage, police are seen asking Perez to drop his knife at least 5 times before they fired. Perez, however, does not speak English, according to his family, so he may have been unaware of the commands. Perez also has autism, as well as cerebral palsy, which again, his family has said may have impacted his behavior at the time of the encounter.
