Dream Team: Two Utah brothers ‘making the best of it’ get a Christmas surprise

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — Tre and Jesse Trujillo are two brothers who don’t let a disease stand in the way of their independence.

Jesse is among a handful of Utahns diagnosed with Friedreich's ataxia, a rare genetic disorder that causes muscles to deteriorate.

Jesse has been in a wheelchair for several years now and has endured numerous surgeries, but he keeps a positive attitude.

Tre and Jesse are both in their early 20s, and when Tre felt it was time to "leave the nest," he didn’t leave Jesse behind.

They now share a very nice — but also rather expensive — handicapped-accessible apartment in South Jordan.

Tre works construction during the day to pay the bills and cares for his brother Jesse at night.

They have friends over, play video games and do typical "guy stuff."

Tre and Jesse’s mother Kristen Searle nominated them for a surprise from the FOX 13 Dream Team.

Watch the video above to see how it all went down and what we got Tre and Jesse to make their holidays a little brighter.
