    “Spirit of the Game” tells the story of a group of Latter Day-Saint missionaries coined as “Mormon Yankees” who help the Australian national basketball team prepare for the 1956 Olympic games. Fred Woods is a BYU professor that wrote the book Mormon Yankees: Giants on and off the Court  and served as story adviser for the movie. He and actual ‘Mormon Yankee’ Bob Pedersen visited Good Day Utah to discuss the film and the story behind it.

  • New transmitters tracking Utah pelican population

    New GPS transmitter backpacks will give us more information about Utah’s pelican population. Division of Wildlife Resources officers put the devices on the pelican’s backs… don’t worry it doesn’t hurt them. You can track the pelicans too- using a virtual map on the Division of Wildlife Resources website. 

  • Truck carrying crane hits I-15 overpass in Utah County

    LINDON, Utah — Utah Highway Patrol confirmed a semi tractor-trailer carrying a crane hit an I-15 southbound overpass between Lindon and Pleasant Grove. Traffic is moving in the northbound lanes but the southbound lanes are still seeing delays. According to police, one person has minor injuries. Check back with Fox 13 for the latest updates.

    Actors from the film “The Last Descent” visited Good Day Utah to talk about preparation for physically and emotionally demanding roles.   • Investigators searching for arsonist after another suspicious fire in Farmington

    FARMINGTON, Utah –  The Farmington Fire Department is looking for someone that tipped off local media to a fire early Friday morning. The brush fire happened around 1:30 a.m at 462 East and 200 South in Farmington.     SALT LAKE CITY — Investigators are trying to figure out what started a large house fire in Salt Lake City late Wednesday night.  Earlier this week, the same house was busted for a marijuana grow. It took a team of roughly 45 firefighters to battle the flames at 264 South and 1000 East.   • Tooele police seek public’s help locating man in connection with arson investigation

    TOOELE, Utah – A felony arson investigation is underway after a fire ripped through at least 18 properties in Tooele overnight, and police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who may have information about the blaze. Fire officials said 10 homes are a total loss and eight others have significant damage. Eight vehicles were also damaged in the fire.     COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah — One woman is dead and two people are in the hospital after a rear end crash Monday night in Cottonwood heights.     WASHINGTON CITY, Utah — The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has relocated a mountain lion that took up residency in a window well at a Washington City home, Monday morning.
