After years of not running, UVU President, Astrid Tuminez, is running a half-marathon on June 6.
She began preparing for the Utah Valley Marathon to help cope with the stress of COVID-19, which forced the university to take thousands of courses online in one week and essentially evacuate a campus.
Now the pandemic has forced the race into virtual reality. Runners will be clocking and submitting their time, but running solo.
President Tuminez is also doing the race to create awareness about mental health. She recognizes that mental health and well-being are part 'staying healthy' during this unusual time.
She will still be running on Saturday the 6th, to raise awareness about mental health, and to talk about the resources available to our community at UVU and in Utah. Her fellow Wolverines will be cheering her on- from appropriate social distances.
