TAYLORSVILLE, Utah— One person is dead and one person is in serious but stable condition after a shed collapsed in Taylorsville.

Unified Police say 64-year-old David Sligar of Layton died at the scene.

The incident occurred in the back yard of a residence located at 1908 West 4700 South, around 2 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon. According to the Unified Fire Department, two men were inside the shed.

A neighbor heard someone screaming for help and called 9-1-1.

“She found a small, outbuilding had collapsed there was somebody underneath it yelling for help,” said Matthew McFarland with the Unified Fire Department.

The structure is described as a 15 x 15 foot, three-sided shed.

The man who survived has not been identified, but he was alert and speaking with first responders.

It is unclear why the men were inside the shed or what compromised the integrity of the structure.

"We don’t know at this point and time, what caused the collapse.  There was a load of snow on top of it," McFarland said.

The neighbor who called 9-1-1 tells FOX13, the home where the shed is located is more than 100-years-old.  She heard the men working inside the shed earlier in the afternoon.

UPD says the collapse does not appear to be suspicious and it is most likely, an awful accident.
