Severe thunderstorms blanket Wasatch Front; multiple wildfires started by lightning

SALT LAKE CITY — Most of the Wasatch Front experienced severe weather Thursday, with winds as high as 69 mph being reported along Interstate 80 and heavy rain and hail blanketing the northern half of the state.

Heavy rains could continue to cause minor urban flooding across Salt Lake and Utah counties tonight and more storms are developing past Delta.

Five wildfires in Tooele County were started by lightning, according to Utah Wildfire Info, but they were all contained by 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
