FARMINGTON, Utah — Davis County Search and Rescue crews responded to the Flag Rock area in the mountains east of Farmington Friday.

According to the Davis County Sheriff’s Office, a hiker required assistance after suffering an ankle injury.

A medical helicopter was also dispatched.

Brett Neville of Davis County Search and Rescue explained that the helicopter was sent because there had been a report that the injured man may have had a brain or head injury.

The helicopter brought the injured man down the mountain to Farmington Pond for further assessment.

As the weather gets warmer and more people are spending time outdoors, Neville recommends that hikers tell someone where they’re planning to hike and continue giving updates on their location, keep cellphones charged, bring plenty of water and use a headlamp.

“And if there’s any problems, call [for help] before you can’t,” Neville said.
