SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah -- Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction on a stretch of Highland Drive in Holladay as crews repair a broken water main.

The Utah Department of Transportation first tweeted about the incident just before 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The break initially closed Highland Drive, but by about 11 a.m. one lane in each direction was opened.

The lane restrictions are between 4500 South and Lincoln Lane (about 4350 South).

SLC Public Utilities states the water has been shut off as crews work to repair the break. Nearby residents and businesses between 4340 South and 4500 South are without water service in the meantime.

Drivers are asked to use an alternate route.

No further details about the cause and the size of the break were immediately available.

Fox 13 News will update this story as more details emerge.
