SANDY, Utah — Sandy Police continue searching for a shooter after a 36-year-old woman was killed and her husband critically hurt in their home Tuesday night.

The couple’s security system alerted police near 12000 South and Hawkwood Drive.

Several neighbors said they heard at least one gunshot coming from the home after 10:00 p.m.

Surveillance photos captured by Lee Swingley’s security system show Jeff Webster’s grey Ford F-150 coming home at 9:36 p.m., followed approximately 10 minutes later by Maureen Fiore’s white Mercedes SUV.

Less than a half hour later, they’d both be shot.

“I get the impression that maybe they were targeted for some reason,” Karen Thomas said, neighbor.

Police say the couple was shot more than once by a person who’s still on the run.

Fiore died at the hospital. The 36-year-old was the registered owner of Amourous Designs, a permanent cosmetic business located in the home.

Webster, 38, is in critical but stable condition as of Wednesday evening.

“We don’t have a whole lot of details on the shooter,” Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Nielsen said. "The male has been receiving medical treatment and because of that, we haven’t been able to interview him. We don’t have a whole lot of details to go off at this time.”

Nearby Altara Elementary ordered a “shelter in place” Wednesday while police searched the area.

However, police don’t believe there is a threat to anyone else in the neighborhood.

“We don’t know who it is and we don’t know if it is a family member or a complete stranger,“ Sgt. Nielsen said.

Investigators don’t think the shooter broke into the home. Neighbors say Webster has a young son who, police confirm, was away at the time of the shooting.

“They actually moved here from California so that his son could go to school here because he thought it was a safe neighborhood,” Thomas said. “That’s kind of disturbing.”
