MILLCREEK, Utah --Unified Police have identified the victim of a homicide that occurred in Millcreek.

Police identified the deceased Tuesday morning as 61-year-old Steven Richard Nyce but did not release any further details from the ongoing investigation.

Tyler James Vernon, 37, was booked into jail Monday for aggravated murder in connection with the case, UPD officials said.

Sgt. Melody Gray with the Unified Police Department said the investigation was at a residence near the 1200 East block of 3700 South.

“We don’t know the cause of death, we don’t know the relationship, we don’t know why this individual is deceased,” Gray said.

Gray said that at 2:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a man who had blood on his hands outside, screaming that someone had been injured. Neighbors described it as terrifying.

“The guy was standing at his door screaming help, help call the cops...He had blood like all up his arms,” said Cortney Hollands a neighbor.

“Ran outside saying help me, help me...He looked like he was covered in blood,” said Sabrina Simpson a neighbor.

Officers responded to the home, where Gray said they found Nyce deceased.
