SALT LAKE CITY — A state lawmaker is proposing to amend Utah’s constitution to make it more gender neutral.

The proposed constitutional amendment, filed by Sen. Deidre Henderson, R-Spanish Fork, would rewrite the state’s founding document to eliminate the historically male pronouns, to use “person” or “his and her.”

Modifications to the state constitution must be passed by the Utah State Legislature before they can be sent to the voter.
