SMITHFIELD, Utah — A cabinet shop was destroyed and apartment complex sustained lesser damage in a two-alarm fire that broke out Thursday night.

Fire crews were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. to Premier Cabinets, located at 700 North and Main Street.

Crews arrived to find flames pouring from the south side of the business, prompting them to evacuate a nearby apartment complex—which ultimately sustained damage to some windows and doors.

The cabinet shop was destroyed in the fire.

The owner of Premier Cabinets, Ryan Coats, said he employs about a dozen people in the shop and said everything seemed to be fine when he closed up for the day around 5:30 p.m.

"I kind of don't know what to think," he said. "Little bit in shock. We just got the call and ran down, and it looks like everything is gone."

Investigators have not determined the cause of the fire. Coats said he has some ideas about where it began.

"We think it started in the back and maybe in the paint booth," he said. "Don't know if it was some rags or what."
