One dead following crash on U.S. 89 in Logan

LOGAN, Utah — One person is dead following an accident Sunday in Logan on U.S. Highway 89.

Logan City Police Department’s 911 Dispatch said the accident occurred near 2200 South.

Chief Gary Jensen with the Logan Police Department said a gray SUV was traveling northbound on U.S. 89, when the driver fell asleep at the wheel and drifted into the southbound lane, hitting a white SUV.

The driver of the white SUV, who was identified as a 29-year-old male, passed away, Jensen said. The man’s wife and baby, who were also in the car were transferred to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Jensen stated that at least five passengers in the gray SUV sustained minor injuries.

The name of the 29-year-old man who died in the accident was not released by police officials, pending notification of family members.
