PLEASANT GROVE, Utah – Authorities have identified a 12-year-old boy who was hit and killed while crossing a street in Pleasant Grove Monday night.
Capt. Brit Smith of Pleasant Grove Police said 12-year-old Michael Madsen was killed in the crash.
Madsen was hit and killed while crossing the street at State Street and Pleasant Grove Boulevard shortly after 6 p.m. Monday.
Police say the boy had the right of way when he was hit by a large construction-style truck making a right-hand turn.
“Our hearts go out to his family and friends,” the Facebook post stated.
Police said the driver of the truck was cooperating with investigators, and it did not appear that alcohol or drugs were involved.
“We want to thank everyone for their patience as we investigate this tragedy,” police wrote. “Please drive safely out there.”
Smith said a Venmo account has been made available. The account is Michael Dominic Madsen, which can be found by searching @RussandMandyMadsen.
