LAYTON, Utah — Police responded to a SWAT situation at a residence in Layton Saturday evening.

Officials with Layton Dispatch confirmed that the incident occurred near 2300 N. 400 W.

Sgt. Scott Clarke with the Layton Police Department said that the SWAT incident was related to an armed robbery that happened earlier this year, where an 18-year-old suspect stole drugs with a gun, hitting someone over the head with the weapon and taking off.

Clarke stated that the man didn’t live in the home police responded to but was known to the residents.

SWAT was called in during the investigation because the gun had not been recovered from the robbery, Clarke stated.

The suspect is now in custody, according to police.
