Ben McAdams leads Mia Love in close race for Congressional District 4

SALT LAKE COUNTY -- The race for Utah's 4th Congressional District between Republican incumbent Mia Love and Democrat Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams is too close to call.

As of results available Wednesday afternoon, McAdams leads Love with 51.45% of the vote to 48.55%. By 3 p.m. Wednesday another 3,784 votes were counted, with 2,056 for McAdams and 1,728 for Love.

Rep. Rob Bishop and Chris Stewart were both re-elected to the U.S. House of Representatives Tuesday night in the midterm elections, while the race for Utah's 4th Congressional District between Republican incumbent Mia Love and Democrat Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams was too close to call.

Thursday, McAdams' campaign manager Andrew Roberts released a statement.

"We are encouraged by the fact that our lead in the balloting increased. We appreciate the dedication and care from all elections officials and employees to ensure a fair and accurate vote counting process. Utahns have stepped up to participate at historic mid-term election levels and that's a good thing."

Bishop led with 62.69 percent of the vote as of 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, with Democrat Lee Castillo trailing behind with 24.69 percent.
