HERRIMAN, Utah -- Three people were killed in Herriman following an accident near 7300 W. Herriman Highway.
Officials with the Herriman Police Department said that three people were in the vehicle, but crews were unable to extricate the individuals.
A passerby reportedly noticed the vehicle earlier Sunday and called the accident into police. Officials said the car may have been there for up to 12 hours before it was discovered.
"Unfortunately in this particular circumstance, those three individuals had been deceased for several hours is our initial estimate and they were beyond help," said Lt. Cody Stromberg with the Herriman City Police Department.
The vehicle appeared to have lost control and rolled into the ravine.
The names, ages and genders of the people killed were not available at the time of this report.
