One dead, two airlifted to hospital following crash in Tooele

TOOELE, Utah –Utah Highway Patrol is investigating a crash on SR-36 that left one person dead and several others in the hospital Thursday afternoon.

The driver of a Jeep was heading southbound on the highway just after 3 p.m. before trying to make a lane change.

According to UHP, the Jeep struck a Hyundai Elantra and then veered into the northbound lanes, hitting a Honda Civic head-on.

The driver of the Honda died on scene.

Two people in the Jeep were taken to the hospital by helicopter. Their conditions are unknown.

Troopers have not identified any victims in the crash.
