PROVO, Utah -- A man was killed after being hit by a car in Provo Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday, police identified the deceased as 82-year-old Rodolfo Blanco of Orem.

Provo Police say the man was crossing State Street in the crosswalk at Riverside Avenue when the car hit him and threw him down the road about 40 feet.

Two northbound cars had stopped as the man crossed the street, but a third car to arrive at the intersection didn't stop and hit him.

Police say this is a tragic reminder for motorists to keep their eyes open for pedestrians.

"A reminder to slow down and yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk," Lt. Brian Taylor with the Provo Police Department said. "We have an obligation to yield to them wherever they are, particularly in a crosswalk."

Police say the woman who was driving the car that hit him is in her 20s and cooperating with investigators.
