UPDATE: The Coal Hollow Fire has grown to an estimated 17,208 acres as of Thursday morning.
According to fire officials, there are 143 personnel fighting the fire, which began Saturday and is believed to have been sparked by a lightning strike.
The fire has prompted evacuations in both Utah and Carbon counties.
Evacuated areas include Fish Creek, Bear Ridge and Soldier Summit as well as parts of Aspen Cove and Scofield in Utah County. All homes south of US-6 to the Carbon County Line are also being evacuated. State Route 96 is being evacuated from the junction with US-6 to Scofield.
Pre-evacuation notices were issued Wednesday night for areas north of State Route 6 from mile marker 195-210. In Carbon County: Madison Bay, Scofield West, Fish Creek and the Clear Creek community are in pre-evacuation status.
On Thursday, an evacuation notice went out to a larger-than-intended audience, prompting officials in communities such as Payson, Springville and Spanish Fork to assure its residents they were not under evacuation orders.
A community meeting is planned for 7 p.m. Thursday at North Sanpete High School.

UTAH COUNTY, Utah -- The Coal Hollow Fire in Spanish Fork Canyon is requiring the evacuation of an area west of Scofield Reservoir and in the Soldier Summit area along US Highway 6, according to a tweet sent by Sgt. Spencer Cannon with the Utah County Sheriff's Office just before 9 p.m. Wednesday night.
The Utah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team is assisting with notifying campers and the few residents in the area, according to Sgt. Cannon.
The fire grew from 8,000 acres to 12,000 acres during the day.
Around 9:30 p.m., The Carbon County Sheriff's Office posted a list of areas under mandatory evacuation orders on its Facebook page.
Evacuated areas include Fish Creek, Bear Ridge and Soldier Summit as well as parts of Aspen Cove and Scofield in Utah County. All homes south of US-6 to the Carbon County Line are also being evacuated. State Route 96 is being evacuated from the junction with US-6 to Scofield.

The Sheriff's Office said more evacuations could be ordered, and asked everyone to avoid the Scofield Reservoir area.
Utah Fire Info tweeted a photo of the fire and said extreme behavior on the Coal Hollow Fire is prompting pre-evacuations in the Scofield area by the Utah County Sheriff's Office.
The Coal Hollow Fire was sparked by a lightning strike August 4.
