OGDEN, Utah — Police are investigating a homicide in Ogden after a second body found in the city in the past 24 hours.

Ogden Police were called to an alleyway behind the Pollo Rico restaurant at 26 Street and Monroe Boulevard around 7 a.m. Monday morning after neighbors reportedly found a body.

Ogden Police haven't identified the victim yet, but Ted Dominguez says it was his neighbor, Dave.

"We live in the same apartment building. He lives two doors down from me, but he’d come over here and talk to me once in a while," said Dominguez.

Dominguez said Dave was incredibly generous. Maybe too generous.

"The people that would come over his house were always taking money away from him, always always. All the time I was chasing people away from his apartment," said Dominguez.

In fact, Sunday night before going into work, Dominguez says he tried to step in and help Dave.

"I’d seen this guy arguing with the deceased guy. He was trying to get money from him and I told the guy to leave him alone," said Dominguez.

Dominguez never would've thought it would be the last time he'd see his neighbor.

After a few hours on scene, Ogden Police Lt. Tim Scott, said they were investigating the case as a homicide. They don't think there's any threat to the public because they don't believe it was a random killing.

"There’s an acquaintance involved here. We believe the suspect and victim knew each other," said Scott.

This is the second body found in Ogden in less than 24 hours. A woman was found dead Sunday evening in the area of 1000 West and 600 north, but police say there's no evidence that the two cases are connected.

"Proximity, they didn’t know each other, and the cause and manner that we’re dealing with here is completely different. It's not something we feel is connected in any way," said Scott.

Police are still trying to confirm the identity of the woman, but they have a feeling they know who it is.

"We do have a missing person’s case that’s out there that the family has been very concerned about. A missing adult female so we believe there may be some connection there," said Scott.

Dominguez says his neighbor struggled with some mental health issues, but ultimately wore his heart and his finances on his sleeve.

"I don’t know what kind of funds he had, but he was always carried his checkbook on his shirt pocket with money in it," said Dominguez.
