NEPHI, Utah -- A 7.5-foot boa constrictor caused a scare in a Nephi neighborhood Wednesday after it went missing, prompting police to alert the community..

Peter Schow says his snake, Tesh, is quite the escape artist.

"He’s escaped from every tank I’ve put together, so he’s pretty good about it," Schow said.

Tesh's girlfriend Pharaoh is a little bigger than him. She's eight and a half feet and he's about seven and a half. They live together in a tank inside the house. Schow says Tesh went missing Tuesday afternoon.

"When I came back I noticed he was not in his tank," Schow said.

After 24 hours without a trace, he thought it was the right thing to do to notify police. Nephi Police sent out an alert telling the community to be on alert and watch out for small pets and children.

"I'm not confident he’s outside," Schow said. "I think he would shy away from that, but it is a possibility so I thought I should notify people that he could be out and about."

Schow's neighbor, Natalie Jones, was a little nervous, but not enough to keep her kids inside on a hot summer day.

"Hopefully they can find it quick because I think the longer it goes the more anxiety I’ll have, but right now I feel like they’ll find it. Hopefully," says Jones.

Moments later, Tesh was found in Schow's home, hiding behind his tank.
